According to a report published by SurfShark on Tuesday, security breaches have seen a surprising increase of 156% worldwide from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2023. As computer hacking and security leaks become more common, the rate of these breaches is also rising.
Countries with the most data breaches revealed
SurfShark detected a total of 110.8 million hacked accounts in the second quarter, with 855 accounts being compromised every minute. Some countries have become major centers for cyber attacks, and the well-known VPN company has ranked the 10 countries most targeted by cyber attacks.
The ranking of the countries is not solely based on the number of breached accounts due to population differences. Instead, the report focuses on the number of compromised accounts per thousand people in each country. This way, it provides an idea of the likelihood that each individual in a country may be affected by data breaches and cyber attacks.
