Google frequently tests new designs and features in its products. However, there is no guarantee that such tests will lead to a stable release. For example, earlier this year, Google tested the Material You design for the bottom navigation bar in the app, but did not roll it out to all users.
For now, the updated look of Google Search is only being tested on Android. However, Google will decide based on feedback from testers before rolling it out widely.
