Xiaomi’s First Electric Car Sets a Record by Selling 50,000 Units in 30 Minutes!
Xiaomi made its official entry into the automotive world during an event held in China the other day. Introducing its model named SU7 under the Xiaomi Auto sub-brand, the company has sparked new competition in the electric car market. Following the launch of the vehicle, it was revealed that unexpected numbers of pre-orders were received.
Xiaomi SU7 Sells 50,000 Units in Half an Hour
Xiaomi commenced shipments of SU7 to 59 stores in 28 cities across China, where the vehicles were made available for purchase. Today, orders began to be accepted following the announcement of the price. It is said that 10,000 units were sold in just 4 minutes.
During the first 7 minutes of SU7’s release, 20,000 units were sold, and within the first half-hour, 50,000 units were sold as part of pre-orders. Considering that deliveries are set to begin in April, these numbers are quite impressive.
However, some users claim to have paid a deposit without being aware of it. They stated that they accidentally placed a pre-order while browsing the car’s website and paid a $691 deposit. It was also reported that Xiaomi did not refund this money. However, there is debate over how users accidentally paid the deposit without entering their bank details.

According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the starting price for the SU7 Standard model with the lowest specifications is set at 215,900 yuan, equivalent to $29,870. The SU7 Pro is priced at 245,900 yuan ($34,000), while the top-of-the-line SU7 Max Performance model is priced at 299,900 yuan ($41,500).
