Calculator is changing with macOS 15
According to a new report, Apple is preparing to make a major change to the calculator with macOS 15. The calculator is expected to gain new functionality and a design similar to the iOS app.
Apple will give the Calculator for Mac app a number of new features. These include an improved unit conversion system in the interface. For example, it will be possible to convert between currencies using current exchange rates.
A new “Math Notes” feature will also be available. This will allow the Notes app to communicate with Calculator using mathematical notation on both macOS and iOS. Apple will also add a dedicated sidebar accessible with a single button.
This will show previous calculations and make it possible to switch between basic, scientific and programmer calculator views. The calculator’s window size will be dynamically changeable. Different modes can be set with the reshaped buttons.
Calculator will have a similar design to the app in iOS 17. Accordingly, it is thought to adopt a simpler and rounder button design.
