Naughty Dog, one of the most beloved studios in the gaming world and the developer of legends like The Last of Us and Uncharted, has started sharing exciting details about its new project. The first information about the studio’s upcoming game was revealed by MinnMax’s founder, Ben Hanson.

The new game will not be linear like The Last of Us!

According to Hanson, who received information from a reliable source involved in the game’s development, the new project promises players a great deal of freedom.

The source commented, “No one is ready for how impressive this project will be,” adding that the game will place great importance on player freedom. Although Hanson refrained from naming the game being compared, he specifically emphasized that the project will not be similar to the Hitman series.

Naughty Dog’s head, Neil Druckmann, had previously provided significant clues about the studio’s future in recent months. Druckmann confirmed, “We will not just be The Last of Us studio,” indicating that multiple single-player projects are in development.

The studio’s new vision seems to be shifting away from traditional storytelling toward a more innovative approach. Druckmann mentioned being inspired by the storytelling styles of games like Elden Ring and Inside, stating, “It’s very important to us that players experience the story through exploration. Some of our best storytelling in The Last of Us happened when players understood the past by exploring the environments.”

Last year, the studio canceled its TLOU Online project, deciding to focus on single-player experiences. This new project is expected to be the first example of the studio’s commitment to that direction. While players eagerly await the new project from the studio that created masterpieces like Uncharted and The Last of Us, this upcoming game, promising a rich exploration-based experience, is already generating great excitement.
