Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) suffered a severe outage on February 8, lasting nearly 24 hours worldwide. Users were unable to connect to games, access the PlayStation Store and utilize online services. Sony gives PlayStation Plus members a free 5-day subscription due to PSN crash
Sony’s online services crashed worldwide on February 8. Following the outage, thousands of gamers reported that they were unable to log in to their PlayStation accounts and play their games online. PlayStation Store access: Users were unable to log in to the digital store. Multiplayer games: Access to popular games such as Call of Duty, EA FC 24, Fortnite, Destiny 2, and EA FC 24 was severely limited.

PlayStation Plus subscribers had difficulty accessing game saves via the cloud. Some users reported various errors on their consoles, unable to even download system updates. Sony’s Ask PlayStation support account announced today that all PSN services have been fully restored. Sony did not share any details on the cause of the outage, but thanked users for their patience.
This is actually not Sony’s first major PSN outage. Last year in October 2024, PSN experienced an outage lasting 8 hours. In May 2024, some services also experienced connection problems. No matter what anyone says, such recurring outages are causing concern among PlayStation users. However, Sony plans to alleviate some of the players’ victimization with the free 5-day compensation period offered to PS Plus members.
