AMD delivered! RDNA 4’s power revealed

AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card was overclocked from 2970MHz to 3244MHz in the first overclock tests. The tests achieved a frequency increase of 274MHz with only 25W additional power consumption. The card is said to have great overclocking potential. So what does this mean?

First, in the Unigine Heaven benchmark tests, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT’s power consumption reached 329W, but the temperature remained stable around 50°C. This means that both the power efficiency and cooling performance of the card are quite good.

For comparison, the RX 7900 XT’s highest overclock record with air cooling was 3230 MHz, but of course this was achieved with a 480 MHz increase. Considering that the RX 9070 XT is still in the early testing phase, it is likely to reach higher speeds with vBIOS and driver updates.

In short, if we look at the test results, we can say that AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture has the potential to reach high frequencies. Therefore, the GPU’s ability to reach high speeds with relatively low power consumption will be a significant advantage for both gamers and content creators.
