CD Projekt Red has announced that it has entered the pre-production phase for its new game set in the Cyberpunk universe. It was stated that the idea phase of the production, codenamed Project Orion and known to the public as “Cyberpunk 2”, has been completed and more concrete development steps have been moved on.
Cyberpunk 2 will be coming soon
The name of the new game has not yet been finalized. CD Projekt Red’s senior public relations manager Ola Sondej said, “Cyberpunk 2 just means the next game in the universe,” and stated that this name is temporary for the project. Project Orion was first announced by the company in 2022.

The team working on Cyberpunk 2 currently consists of only 96 people. This number is expected to increase as the production process approaches. Although no official details have been given about the game’s plot and locations, the story will not be limited to Night City.
A city called Chicago, where everything goes wrong, will also play an important role in the sequel. This indicates that the game will have a much larger and more layered world. No calendar has been shared regarding the release date.
However, CD Projekt Red’s co-CEO Michal Nowakowski stated in a meeting with investors that the game will be ready on time. Given current progress, the game is expected to enter full production in late 2027.
The Cyberpunk universe has also achieved significant commercial success. Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion pack Phantom Liberty has sold over 10 million copies to date. What do you think about this? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
