Twitch is bringing vertical live broadcast support to the platform. With this feature, broadcasters will be able to present their broadcasts in both horizontal and vertical formats at the same time. The company will start testing the new system on a small number of channels this summer. It is planned to be made available to a wider audience towards the end of the year.
Twitch will finally present the expected innovation
Vertical broadcasting will make the experience of watching live broadcasts more fluid, especially for mobile users. While broadcasters had to choose only one format in the current system, this obligation is eliminated with the new update. Twitch is preparing to test the infrastructure that can present broadcast content in both formats.

The platform’s innovations are not limited to this. Twitch also offers technical updates that will increase the image quality. Broadcasters will now be able to broadcast in 1440p resolution. With this, the transition to the HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) codec is being made.
This codec can provide better image quality at lower bit rates. Twitch also states that the resolution can be automatically adjusted according to the viewer’s internet speed with its “Enhanced Broadcasting” technology.
The rewind function for broadcasts was also among the announced updates. Viewers will now be able to go back to the parts they missed while watching an ongoing broadcast. This feature will also be tested with a limited number of users in the summer. This will make it possible to rewatch certain parts without rewinding the broadcast.
These steps by Twitch could directly change viewership habits. What do you think about this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
