Nintendo’s new generation game console, Switch 2, has officially been released. The device, which has many improvements over the previous model, does not meet the expectations of gamers in terms of screen performance. The first tests reveal serious deficiencies, especially in terms of screen brightness and HDR experience.
Nintendo Switch 2 disappoints with its screen
The first Switch model was offered for sale with an LCD screen, and then the OLED version took a significant step in image quality. However, Nintendo Switch 2 was released with an LCD screen once again. This choice was disappointing, especially for users expecting high dynamic range (HDR) performance.

In the tests, it was determined that the Switch 2 screen brightness varied between 420 and 450 nits. Although the highest brightness level of the screen is limited to 450 nits, it does not provide an effective HDR experience in practice, although it offers HDR support on paper. The natural limitations of LCD panels, such as black depth and lack of contrast, make this situation even more obvious.
A partial improvement in HDR performance is observed when used via the dock. Graphically rich games like Cyberpunk 2077 can offer a similar experience to versions on other platforms in this mode. However, in portable use; the visual quality of productions such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild in particular does not reach a satisfactory level in terms of HDR.
It is not yet clear whether Nintendo will intervene in this regard with a software update. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
