Apple has been working on a new prototype for the foldable iPhone model for a long time. Concrete information about the screen size, resolution ratio, material structure and hinge design of the device, which is expected to be released in 2026, has been leaked.
The foldable iPhone will officially appear
A 7.58-inch OLED panel will be used on the inner screen of the foldable iPhone. This size is very close to the 7.6-inch screen on Samsung’s Z Fold 6 model. The resolution of the panel will be at the level of 2,713 x 1,920 pixels.

This corresponds to a 14.1:10 aspect ratio. It was previously known that Apple tested a 4:3 ratio for software compatibility reasons. However, in the iOS 26 version introduced at WWDC 2025, it was announced that applications could adapt to different screen ratios.
The body of the device will be made of titanium alloy, which Apple has been using frequently lately. This material will ensure that the device is both lightweight and durable. In the hinge structure, a more durable material called amorphous metal glass composite is preferred.
The most important advantage of this structure is the potential to eliminate the crease mark usually seen in the folding area. It was also shared that the company is testing an alternative hinge prototype based on “liquid metal”. However, it is not certain whether this option will be included in the final product.
The external screen of the foldable iPhone will also be 5.49 inches, as previous leaks have suggested. Samsung Display is expected to produce 7 to 8 million OLED panels for this model. This number may indicate that Apple plans to launch with limited production in the first place.
The exact release date of the device has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be introduced in 2026. The uncertainty regarding how Apple will enter the foldable phone market and which user group it will position the product for continues.
