San Francisco-based Swift Navigation is surpassing a significant milestone in global positioning technologies. The company’s Skylark system, developed by the company, reduces the accuracy of traditional GPS systems from 3 to 10 meters to the centimeter level, making it suitable for applications requiring high accuracy, such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, and precision logistics.
GPS positioning accuracy reaches centimeters
The Skylark Precise Positioning Service corrects for deviations in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) signals using cloud-based algorithms. This approach increases positioning accuracy by up to 100 times.

The service surpasses the accuracy limits long surpassed by GNSS-based systems and provides instant centimeter-level location information, directly contributing to high-volume automation applications.
The system also distinguishes itself by being built entirely on a cloud architecture. While many ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level)-certified positioning solutions require expensive physical data centers, Skylark eliminates this need, offering a more cost-effective and scalable solution.
Swift Navigation also states that Skylark is the first and only cloud-based location service that complies with ISO 26262:2018 road vehicle functional safety standards.
The developed technology supports more than 10 million autonomous vehicles worldwide. Swift Navigation currently collaborates with more than 20 automotive manufacturers and suppliers, leading robotics companies, and one of the world’s largest commercial fleet operators.
The cost-effective, secure, and real-time location data offered by Skylark has ushered in a new era not only for autonomous transportation technologies but also for robots and intelligent logistics systems.
With this new round of funding, Swift Navigation plans to expand its technology to more countries and ensure broader global adoption of the system. The company’s focus is on providing a sustainable solution to the growing need for location accuracy in autonomous industries.
