A new chapter is opening in the Chinese automotive market. Chery has launched its new all-electric SUVs, the Fulwin X3 and X3 Plus. These vehicles are rebranded versions of the iCar 03 series. The Fulwin X3 starts at $12,500, while the X3 Plus starts at $15,300.
Chery Fulwin X3 Launched
Both models are very similar in design. Angular lines, L-shaped headlights, and muscular front hood and roof rails are striking. A storage compartment on the trunk lid is another common feature. There are minor differences in dimensions.
The Fulwin X3 is 4327 mm long, 1910 mm wide, and 1715 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2715 mm. Its weight ranges from 1722 kg to 1827 kg. The X3 Plus is slightly larger than the X3, but its wheelbase remains the same.
The Fulwin X3 is a rear-wheel drive vehicle. It uses an electric motor producing 185 kW (248 hp) and 300 Nm of torque. The vehicle is available with two battery options: 50.79 kWh and 68.36 kWh. These batteries offer a range of 401 km and 520 km, respectively.
These range figures are measured according to China’s CLTC standards. The X3 Plus also features all-wheel drive. This version features a front-mounted electric motor producing 70 kW (94 hp) and 165 Nm of torque.
This model also offers a range of 520 km with its 68.36 kWh battery. Both models come standard with a heat pump thermal management system. Depending on the battery, 75 kW or 100 kW DC fast charging is available.
On the safety front, the X3 Plus features Chery’s Falcon 500 advanced driver assistance system. This system includes functions such as semi-autonomous driving on the highway and parking assistance. The Fulwin X3 features a total of 12 active safety functions, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and guard mode.
The interior features a similar layout. The steering wheel is flat-bottomed, and the air vents are rectangular. There’s a 9.2-inch instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch touchscreen multimedia display. The X3 Plus has a 2.5K resolution screen, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip.
The base Fulwin X3 is equipped with the Snapdragon 6155. Both vehicles have seating for five. The standard trunk volume is 450 liters, but with the rear seats folded down, it expands to 1238 liters.
