Demonschool, the stylish RPG pitched as “Persona meets Buffy”, won’t be arriving in early September after all. Publisher Ysbryd Games has pushed the release to November 19, 2025, just days before the holiday rush. The reason? Hollow Knight: Silksong’s sudden launch date landed directly on top of Demonschool’s original window.
Demonschool delay explained by Ysbryd Games

The game was first meant to release last year, before being delayed to September 3. But when Team Cherry confirmed Silksong would arrive on September 4, Ysbryd Games decided it couldn’t risk launching head-to-head with what it called the “GTA of indie games.”
“With 11 years under our belt as an indie publisher, we can say 2025 has been brutal for releasing games,” Ysbryd explained in a statement. “We would not be doing our game any favours by wading into waters we can clearly see are blood red.”
Demonschool gains more content before release
The silver lining: the delay gives Necrosoft Games extra time to refine Demonschool and pack in more content. Features that were originally planned for a post-release patch such as additional endings and minigames will now be included on day one.
At launch, players can expect:
- A haunted university setting packed with secrets
- Turn-based tactical combat with stylish animations
- Expanded story routes with multiple endings
- Extra minigames that flesh out student life between battles
Necrosoft made clear that while the decision wasn’t theirs, they support the move. “We aren’t mad at Ysbryd but at the situation,” the studio wrote. “Dropping the GTA of indie games with two weeks’ notice makes everyone freak out. Ysbryd is being a good partner and paying for the delay.”
No more delays after this
Ysbryd has promised that November 19 will be the final date. The delay might sting for fans waiting since last year, but it positions Demonschool for a clearer spotlight once the dust from Silksong’s launch settles.
Between its eerie art style, branching narrative, and combat depth, Demonschool still looks set to be one of 2025’s standout indie RPGs just a little later than planned.
