Baseus, an innovator in in-car technology, has introduced its new dash cam, the PrimeTrip VD1 Pro. This model eliminates the need for complex wiring to connect to the vehicle’s battery and stands out as the first solar-powered camera. Thanks to its built-in solar panel and battery, the camera can provide parking monitoring for up to 14 days.
Baseus PrimeTrip VD1 Pro Announced
The Baseus PrimeTrip VD1 Pro uses Solar Sync System 2.0 technology. This system combines the solar panel with a 380 mAh lithium battery. According to the company, this eliminates the need for a hard-wired kit, which is required in most competing models, and allows for 14 days of parked vehicle monitoring.

When the vehicle is parked, the camera automatically switches to a low-power standby mode. However, if there is a collision, a forced entry attempt, or someone getting too close to the vehicle, it immediately activates and begins recording. In these cases, it records 30-second videos from both the front and rear cameras.
The camera quality is also noteworthy. The device shoots in 4K resolution with its Sony IMX335 STARVIS sensor. This sensor offers a wide 170-degree field of view and includes HDR processing and night vision support.
Thanks to these features, details like license plates and road signs can be clearly read, day or night. The rear camera records in 1080p resolution with a 120-degree field of view.
The camera connects to your phone via Wi-Fi 6. It offers hands-free control while driving with voice commands like “Take photo” or “Show rear camera.” The built-in GPS tracks speed and location, while the G-sensor detects collisions with three different sensitivity levels. The device supports microSD cards up to 512GB.
