New technical details have emerged about Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which it has been developing for a long time and plans to unveil in 2026. According to a report by Morgan Stanley, the device, dubbed the “iPhone Fold,” will feature a 24-megapixel selfie camera under the display, a first for Apple. The device is expected to be officially unveiled in the second half of 2026.
iPhone Fold camera design revealed
New leaked details suggest Apple will simplify its camera and sensor setup. According to the report, the foldable model will not include a Face ID sensor; facial recognition will be handled entirely by a 24-megapixel front-facing camera hidden under the display.

The rear camera setup will feature a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle main camera and an additional sensor. Apple is ditching the telephoto and Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors entirely to make the device thinner and more energy efficient.
On the hardware front, the foldable iPhone is said to run on the yet-to-be-released Apple A20 processor. It’s also stated that the device will use Apple’s in-house developed C2 modem chip.
Memory and storage options are expected to include 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It’s also reported that the device will use a 5,500mAh battery optimized to keep its overall thickness under 10mm.
The device’s design is expected to be book-shaped. The foldable iPhone will feature a 7.8-inch internal display when unfolded and a 5.5-inch external display when folded.
Apple aims to minimize screen creases and increase durability by using an aluminum-titanium hybrid structure in the hinge structure. This innovative structure will also help control production costs. The foldable iPhone’s estimated retail price is approximately $2,000.
