HMD Global is giving the humble feature phone a serious upgrade with the HMD Terra M. Built for business and industrial use, this rugged handset combines waterproof durability, remote device management, and some surprisingly modern extras.
HMD Terra M is built to take a beating

Its IP68 and IP69K certifications show the Terra M resists water and withstands high-pressure jets and extreme environments. This makes it well-suited for jobs that don’t allow fragile tech.
The 2.8-inch touchscreen is another highlight. It works even while wearing gloves, which makes it a strong choice for construction, logistics, or field service roles.
HMD Terra M designed with business users in mind
What really sets the Terra M apart from other feature phones is its business-first focus. It supports Mobile Device Management (MDM), so IT departments can manage fleets of phones remotely. For mobile workers, the phone includes:
- Push-to-talk support via programmable buttons
- A dedicated SOS button for emergencies
- Dual SIM and eSIM for flexible carrier switching
- A 4G modem for faster basic connectivity
Efficient charging for teams
The phone comes with a charging dock that connects through metal contacts on the back no cables needed per unit. Even better, up to 10 docks can be daisy-chained together using a single power cable, allowing teams to charge multiple phones simultaneously with minimal mess.
What’s under the hood?
While this isn’t a smartphone, the Terra M packs just enough to handle essential tasks. It runs on a Qualcomm Dragonwing QCM2290 chipset, and HMD promises five years of security updates. The 2,510mAh battery delivers up to 10 days of standby time, which is ideal for work shifts or off-grid use.
Feature phones aren’t done yet
The HMD Terra M proves there’s still room for innovation in the feature phone category. The rugged build, glove-friendly screen, and scalable team charging show HMD designed it for real-world users, not just minimalists.
