As fans continue their long wait for Grand Theft Auto 6, new clues may have just surfaced this time from inside GTA Online. According to a known dataminer, a handful of clothing assets found in the game show signs they might belong to Rockstar’s upcoming title.
Dataminers spot unusual textures and filenames

Dataminer rollschuh2282 reportedly uncovered several suspicious clothing items during a Money Fronts mission in GTA Online. Among them: a bikini top, heart-patterned boxer shorts, and a pair of jeans. At first glance, they seem harmless, but a deeper dive suggests otherwise.
Lucas7yoshi_RS, a trusted name in Rockstar leaks, noted that the texture style appears to use PBR (Physically Based Rendering). That’s a rendering technique absent from GTA 5 but commonly used in Red Dead Redemption 2. The presence of PBR alone makes these files feel out of place.
File names hint at GTA 6’s metapeds system
It’s not just the visuals raising eyebrows. The internal filenames break from GTA 5’s standard conventions and align more closely with Rockstar’s metapeds system. This naming style, seen in Red Dead Redemption 2, uses more detailed suffixes and character assignments another possible sign these assets came from newer tech.
Key findings from the leak:
- Items contain PBR textures, not used in GTA 5
- File names follow metapeds system, native to newer Rockstar engines
- Clothing appeared during Money Fronts mission in GTA Online
Are these GTA 6 assets or just a dev mistake?
Not everyone is convinced. One dataminer pointed out that some GTA Online assets built for GTA 5 have used PBR before, suggesting this could simply be a case of reused workflow. Still, Lucas7yoshi_RS argues that the file structure offers stronger proof than the textures alone.
The bigger question is why GTA 6 assets if that’s what they are would appear in GTA Online. It’s unclear whether the upcoming title will share any assets with GTA 5, especially with reports suggesting GTA 6 will launch with its own online ecosystem. Rockstar typically avoids backporting high-quality content to older games.
Fans continue the hunt for GTA 6 breadcrumbs
Whether it’s misused assets or a genuine peek at what’s next, the leak has sparked new hope. With no third trailer in sight, fans are combing through every detail for signs of Leonida or other GTA 6 hints. For now, even boxer shorts are enough to keep speculation alive.
