Automotive giant BYD unveiled its luxury sedan, the 2026 BYD Han L, at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show. With its fresh styling, advanced technology features, and impressive starting price, this elegant sedan challenges the perception that high-performance electric vehicles must be prohibitively expensive.
Range and Hybrid Options
For Chinese buyers, the entry price starts at around €23,400, with the top-of-the-line trim level reaching around €31,800. This price range suddenly makes ultra-fast electric driving accessible to a much wider audience. These prices are truly remarkable, considering the top-of-the-line all-electric version offers a range of 701 km on a single charge and reaches 100 km/h in less time than it takes to check your rearview mirror.

The all-electric version of the BYD Han L is a true performance machine. The dual-motor version produces an impressive total output of 810 kW (approximately 1,102 hp), launching the sedan from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds. The Han L’s acceleration will shatter your expectations of what a family sedan is capable of.
If you’re brave enough to find an open racetrack, you can test the Han L’s remarkable top speed of 305 km/h (195 mph). Managing this kind of power requires serious engineering, so BYD built the Han L on its advanced “Super e” 1,000V platform and equipped it with an 83.2 kWh fast-charging battery. This advanced architecture promises swift power delivery and fast charging, raising the bar on the competition.
Like its predecessor, the new BYD Han L offers significant range. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) all-electric version achieves a range of 701 km (431 miles) according to the CLTC test standard. Even the dual-motor configuration with all-wheel drive (AWD) for increased traction and all-season capability still offers a usable range of 601 km.
For drivers who aren’t ready to switch to all-electric power, BYD also offers a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) version. The PHEV combines an efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a robust 45.3% thermal efficiency with powerful electric motors (one front, one rear), each delivering 200 kW. This configuration helps the PHEV accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The vehicle offers a pure electric range of 200 km without the need for the gasoline engine to engage. The company claims that most commuters will be able to complete their daily commute without using a single drop of gasoline.
The exterior design of the new Han L features modern, fluid lines, a sculptural double-curved hood, and a futuristic LED lighting system. The company has hidden the door handles to improve aerodynamics, but this feature is about to be banned in China due to safety concerns.
Color options include sophisticated olive green and cool Xizi blue. Buyers can opt for a sporty equipment package that adds black logos, aggressive matte black wheels, and yellow brake calipers. The rear end also features sharp, full-size taillights and curvy lighting elements on the diffuser-like lower bumper and silver dual skid plates.
The interior follows a familiar BYD layout with a three-spoke steering wheel and fully digital instrument cluster. A roof-mounted LiDAR unit indicates the vehicle’s readiness for advanced autonomous driving capabilities. All models come standard with the “God’s Eye B” (DiPilot 300) laser-assisted driving system, which handles both urban and high-speed navigation.
