The silence surrounding the legendary game, which the gaming world has been eagerly awaiting for years, is finally being broken. Reports shared by renowned data miner Gabe Follower reveal exciting insights into Half-Life 3’s details and gameplay mechanics. Leaked information suggests Valve has been secretly working on this project for nearly three years, and an official announcement may be much closer than we think.
Half-Life 3 Details and the Game’s World
The new game’s structure will be significantly different from previous installments in the series. Instead of a completely linear progression, Valve aims to offer players greater freedom. However, this doesn’t mean a vast, Elden Ring-style open world. Instead, it will utilize an “intelligent semi-open world” system. The developers are designing level designs as interconnected and explorable areas.

At the heart of the game is an updated version of Valve’s powerful Source 2 engine. This engine adds a dynamic day-night cycle and variable weather conditions. These changes aren’t just cosmetic; enemy AI and NPC behavior will also change based on the weather. The series’ iconic Gravity Gun returns with much more advanced physics interactions.
According to Gabe Follower, the project is at a very advanced stage of development. While Valve is currently focusing on its new game, Deadlock, an announcement of Gordon Freeman’s new adventure could be made any day now. Expectations have been particularly high following Half-Life 2’s 20th anniversary celebrations. This time, players may be very close to seeing the number “3.”
