Rockstar Games’ legendary open-world action-adventure game, Red Dead Redemption, is returning with an update for next-generation consoles. The recently announced update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S revealed that the PC version will run at Ultra settings. This development indicates that the visual quality of the console versions will be maximized.
Rockstar Announces: Red Dead Redemption PS5 will be free for PS4 owners
Comparisons clearly demonstrate the graphical differences offered by the new versions. Compared to the other console versions, significant improvements have been made to the grass density and draw distance (LOD) of buildings. The resolution of the in-game world map has also been increased, giving it a much cleaner and clearer appearance compared to the PS4 version.

Technical details indicate that the current-generation console version will feature updated HUD assets and HDR support. The game will run at native 4K (2160p) resolution and a target frame rate of 60 frames per second (fps), providing players with a much smoother and sharper visual experience.
The Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare bundle will be released on December 2, 2025, for Netflix, iOS, Android, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Good news for existing PS4 owners. The PS5 version will be available as a free upgrade for PS4 owners, allowing players to transfer their old save files to their new consoles and pick up where they left off.
New details about the game’s origins have also emerged. Former Rockstar Games employee Jason Muck has shared early images from the game’s development. Originally released in 2010 and based on the story of John Marston, the game is preparing to be remastered with modern technology and ready to be released again.
What are your thoughts on this new version of Red Dead Redemption? Are you planning to experience the game again in 4K and 60 FPS?
