The first concrete details about Apple’s long-awaited foldable iPhone design have leaked. The leaked CAD drawings show that the tech giant has opted for a much wider and shorter form factor than its competitors. This innovative design could radically change smartphone usage habits.
Here’s the Leaked Foldable iPhone Design
CAD images shared by a German technology website reveal that the iPhone Fold model will have an unusual structure. The device is expected to measure 83.8 mm x 120.6 mm x 9.6 mm when folded. These dimensions indicate a flatter and wider body compared to other foldable phones on the market. This may be intended to facilitate easy one-handed use.

The most striking aspect of the design is the screen ratio. According to the leaks, the iPhone Fold will offer a 5.49-inch cover screen with an unusual 3:2 aspect ratio when folded. When the device is unfolded, instead of a nearly square form factor, we will be greeted by a larger rectangular (4:3) main screen measuring 7.76 inches. This size promises an experience quite close to the screen of an approximately 8.3-inch iPad mini.
While Apple’s design choice is reminiscent of the first-generation Google Pixel Fold, the iPhone Fold is expected to have an even wider structure. In terms of thickness, it is claimed to be an impressive 9.6 mm when folded and only 4.8 mm when unfolded, excluding the camera bump. This could make it one of the thinnest foldable phones on the market.
In addition to leaked CAD drawings, there are many claims regarding the hardware specifications of the iPhone Fold. The device’s prominent expected features are:
- A special foldable screen technology with an almost invisible crease.
- A vapor chamber cooling system developed for high performance.
- Powered by the A20 Pro processor and 12 GB of RAM.
- In-display Touch ID fingerprint reader instead of facial recognition. Dual rear camera setup with 48 MP resolution.
- A large battery capacity in the 5,400 – 5,800 mAh range.
- eSIM support only and a starting price of approximately $2,399.
- The announcement date is indicated as the second half of 2026.
