Starlink, the satellite internet service operating under SpaceX, continues its global growth momentum, setting a new record. According to the latest announcement from the company’s official channels, the platform has officially surpassed the 9 million active subscriber mark worldwide.
Starlink is growing rapidly
The most remarkable aspect of this achievement is its growth rate. In just 47 days since announcing reaching its 8 millionth subscriber on November 5th, Starlink has added over 1 million new users to its library. This indicates that global demand for satellite-based broadband internet service will peak by the end of 2025.
Data shared by the company shows that Starlink added an average of 21,275 new users to the system daily during this period. The average number of new subscribers per day, which was around 14,250 in the previous period, has increased by 50% in the last month and a half, gaining momentum.
This rapid expansion is directly linked to Starlink’s coverage extending to 155 different countries and regions. The service has guaranteed a year above its planned targets, surpassing the 7 million subscriber mark in August and the 8 million mark in November. The number of active satellites in orbit exceeding 9,300 provides the infrastructure capacity to handle the increasing user traffic.
This global growth is driven by the intense need in rural and remote areas where traditional fiber or cable internet infrastructure cannot reach. Starlink has become the most essential digital solution for households, businesses, and emergency services in countries with significant geographical barriers.
Tesla’s recent patent for discreetly integrating Starlink receivers into vehicle roofs demonstrates that the increase in subscriber numbers will continue on the mobile user side in the coming period. With new markets to be added in the first months of the new year, the company is rapidly approaching the 10 million subscriber mark.
