The heart of the automotive world is beating in Munich this week, but the speed of the internet has once again disrupted official schedules. The highly anticipated next-generation BMW i3, the first sedan representative of the “Neue Klasse” platform, has been leaked just hours before its official world premiere on March 18, 2026.
Allegedly originating from an accidental livestream thumbnail and various international forums, the leaked images reveal one of the most significant cars of the next decade in full detail.
What to Expect from the New BMW i3?
Known in automotive circles by the chassis code NA0 and scheduled for production in July 2026, the new BMW i3 features a design that remains faithful to the Vision Neue Klasse concept. BMW’s iconic kidney grille has been virtually reinvented; instead of a classic vertical grille, we see a horizontal digital panel that spans the entire front end, integrating illuminated elements and slim LED headlights into a single cohesive unit.

The long hood, aggressive fenders, fluid shoulder lines, and flush door handles emphasize aerodynamic efficiency, while the legendary Hofmeister Kink on the C-pillar pays homage to the brand’s heritage. At the rear, slim horizontal LED taillights and an integrated trunk spoiler provide a sporty, planted stance.
A Revolutionary Cockpit: Panoramic Vision
The interior is as disruptive as the exterior. The cabin is dominated by the “Panoramic Vision” display, which spans the entire width of the lower windshield, nearly eliminating the need for physical buttons. A central, floating hexagonal touchscreen is oriented toward the driver, accompanied by a four-spoke vertical steering wheel similar to the new iX3. BMW also aims to set sustainability standards by using 30% recycled materials throughout the body, chassis, and interior.
Performance: 800 km Range and 800V Architecture
The biggest advantage of the Neue Klasse platform lies in its battery and charging technology. The new BMW i3 is built on an advanced 800-volt electric architecture, expected to support ultra-fast charging up to 400 kW. This will significantly reduce time spent at charging stations.
Equipped with a large 108.7 kWh battery pack, the new i3 is reported to offer a massive range of approximately 800 kilometers (WLTP standard). This figure aims to completely eliminate range anxiety in the luxury electric sedan segment.
While we await the official technical specifications and production timeline tomorrow, it is clear that the new BMW i3 is arriving to rewrite the rules of the luxury EV market.
