Elder Scrolls 6 Sentinel: Bethesda Reportedly Names Next Game

The Elder Scrolls 6 Sentinel is the reported official title of Bethesda’s next Elder Scrolls game, and the name could be announced as soon as November 2026. The Verge’s Tom Warren reported on October 29, citing sources familiar with Bethesda’s plans, that the Xbox-owned publisher is preparing to confirm “The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.” Bethesda and Microsoft have not commented, so the title remains unconfirmed.
The timing would line up with the 15th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which launched on November 11, 2011. According to the report in Warren’s Notepad newsletter, fans should expect only a name reveal next month, not a trailer, platforms or a release date.
What We Know About Elder Scrolls 6 Sentinel So Far
Warren says Bethesda has been showing Sentinel gameplay internally in recent months. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma saw a live playthrough in August and teased the game on X, hiding the subtitle behind eight asterisks. “Sentinel” has exactly eight letters.
Live playthrough of The Elder Scrolls VI: ******** this morning. The scale and grandeur are incredible. The story is even greater.

The report also points to the setting. Warren says Sentinel will take place in Hammerfell, the desert province of the Redguards that previously appeared in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. Sentinel is also the name of a major Hammerfell city in the series’ lore. According to the report, it will be the first game focused on the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves, the ancient artifacts the franchise is named after.
A Long Road Since 2018
Bethesda first confirmed The Elder Scrolls VI with a short teaser at E3 2018, and has shown almost nothing since. In July 2026, Bethesda Game Studios published a roadmap calling the game its main development focus, with most of the studio working on it on Creation Engine 3 alongside Fallout 5. We covered that plan in Bethesda’s roadmap for Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI.
Platforms are still an open question. Microsoft is preparing its next console generation under the Project Helix multi-console strategy, and recent reports suggest the next-generation Xbox Helix could be expensive. Whether Sentinel launches on PlayStation as well, or arrives alongside new Xbox hardware, has not been announced.
What It Means for Players
If the report is accurate, a title reveal around November 11 would be the first official update on the game in years, but a release date is unlikely to follow right away. Until Bethesda confirms it, treat Sentinel as a reported name. Other outlets, including Gematsu, have repeated the report without independent confirmation.
