Netflix is adding a brand new story to The Witcher universe: The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep. Set to release on February 11, 2025, this animated film focuses on a new adventure for Geralt of Rivia. Along with the trailer, Netflix has shared more details about the project. Here’s what you need to know, along with the released trailer…
New Witcher Story: Humans vs. Merfolk
The film is inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story A Little Sacrifice. Geralt is tasked with investigating attacks in a coastal village and finds himself in the middle of a centuries-old conflict between humans and the Merfolk.

Netflix’s official description for the film states, “Geralt must trust old and new allies to prevent the hostilities between two kingdoms from turning into an all-out war.” Fans of The Witcher will recognize some familiar names from both the games and the series. Doug Cockle, known for voicing Geralt in the video games, will reprise his role as the main character in the animation. Additionally, Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Joey Batey (Jaskier) will reprise their roles from the series.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is set between episodes 5 and 6 of the first season of the show. Although it takes place during Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt, the character will be voiced by Doug Cockle in the animation.
The film is directed by Kang Hei Chul, who also directed the 2021 Nightmare of the Wolf film. Chul, an expert in Netflix’s animated projects, continues to breathe new life into The Witcher universe.
