CES 2025 is showcasing vital technologies as well as cute and quirky robots like Mi-Mo. Unlike some of the robots we saw at CES 2025, Mi-Mo doesn’t have a face, but it does look somewhat familiar thanks to its resemblance to Pixar’s iconic lamp. So what does this strange robot offer as it prepares to enter our homes? Here are the details…
Cute robot that looks like a Pixar lamp: Mi-Mo
Mi-Mo, produced by the Japanese company Jizai, is described as a ‘general purpose artificial intelligence robot’. At first glance, this robot, which resembles a Pixar lamp, has a cute stance even though it has no face. Although it is still in a prototype stage, it attracts a lot of attention while walking around the fairground. Thanks to its built-in camera and microphones, it can respond to voice commands and move around. It also works with multiple major language models that provide voice and image recognition capabilities.
This robot is not just designed as a carer robot. As the manufacturer states, this robot is considered an open platform for developers, researchers and others to find their own ways of use. Jizai plans for Mi-Mo to be modular. So people will be able to customise the robot with custom software, additional sensors or other hardware additions.
