Acer is set to shake up the portable gaming market with two new handheld consoles, the Nitro Blaze 11 and Nitro Blaze 8. What do devices like ASUS ROG Ally, Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go have in store to take on the competition?
Acer Nitro Blaze 8 and Blaze 11 to be unveiled at CES 2025
Both Blaze 11 and Blaze 8 will be powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processors based on the Zen 5 architecture. This is a significant improvement over the Ryzen 7 8840U in the Nitro Blaze 7, offering significant gains in both performance and battery life.
As the names suggest, the Blaze 11 will feature an 11-inch display, while the Blaze 8 will come with a more compact 8-inch display. Both devices will run Windows 11 operating system. Having learned from the Blaze 7 experience, Acer wants to produce more powerful hardware this time. That’s why the company believes that the Ryzen AI 300 series will give them an advantage.
Unlike most portable game consoles, the Blaze series also lacked back buttons. The design of the new models is also expected to change.
