As competition in the wearable technology market heats up, Xiaomi is preparing to make an ambitious entry into the smart glasses arena. This market, where Meta stands out with the glasses it developed together with Ray-Ban, will finally increase competition with Xiaomi’s artificial intelligence product. The company seems to be targeting an affordable price point.
Xiaomi to compete with Meta Ray-Ban with its smart glasses
Xiaomi is preparing to enter the artificial intelligence-supported glasses market. Accordingly, the technology giant has partnered with Goertek for the development of smart glasses, which it plans to launch in the second quarter of 2025. The company wants to increase its claim in the wearable technology field and offer an artificial intelligence product.
According to internal company documents, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that he has set an ambitious goal for artificial intelligence glasses and that they want to sell at least 300 thousand units. The company positions this product as a competitor to Meta Ray-Ban glasses. Accordingly, it wants to combine artificial intelligence features with the latest technology.
It should be noted that Xiaomi has not made an official statement about its new product. Although it is currently being developed within the company, it is unclear when the smart glasses will be introduced.
This move actually comes at a time when the artificial intelligence and augmented reality glasses market is rapidly growing in the global market. Meta’s new augmented reality product, Meta Orion, is expected to enter mass production by 2027. Companies such as OPPO, Vivo, Huawei and ByteDance are also exploring opportunities in this area.
Of course, let’s note that Xiaomi is no stranger to the smart glasses market. The affordable Mijia glasses, which it launched earlier this year, promise an airborne audio experience without the need for large headphones.
