China-based technology company Baidu has developed an artificial intelligence system that can analyze animal sounds and physiological reactions and translate their emotions into human language. The company filed a patent application for this innovative system with the China National Intellectual Property Administration in December 2024.
Artificial intelligence that translates animal sounds into human language has been developed
The system analyzes the sounds animals make, their behaviors, and various physiological data together. This data is processed using artificial intelligence-based machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing techniques. Thus, the information obtained about the emotional states of animals is converted into texts that can be understood by humans.

This technology has had a great impact, especially in the Chinese media. While pet owners showed great interest in this development, some comments raised questions about the reliability of the system and its suitability for daily use.
It is not yet certain when the technology will be commercialized. Patent processes in China are concluded in one to three years, depending on the content of the application. During this period, the accuracy of the system on different animal species will be examined and improvements will be made according to user feedback.
This system focuses on common pets, especially cats and dogs. However, it is expected that versions that can be used on farm animals or wildlife will be developed in the future.
