Turkish Airlines (THY) has decided to expand its cooperation with Rolls Royce and Airbus. In this context, THY wants to have some of the 350 aircraft ordered last year for 70 billion dollars produced in Turkey. The company, which has reached an agreement with Rolls Royce and Airbus, will realize the production of 20 billion dollars in Turkey.
20 billion dollars worth of production of 350 airplanes in Turkey
Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of THY, announced that leading figures from Turkey and the UK will attend the signing ceremony on April 28. In addition to the ministries, it was reported that about 30 Turkish companies engaged in production in the civil aviation sector were also invited.
Ahmet Bolat emphasized that with this agreement, an industrial door worth 20 billion dollars will be opened for Turkey-based brands. “Companies including public companies such as TAI, TAI and HAVELSAN will produce aircraft parts for Airbus and Rolls Royce,” he said.
A trilateral committee will be established between THY, Airbus and Rolls Royce to monitor the production process, and THY will assume the coordinator role of this committee. Bolat said that with this agreement, Turkish companies will be able to produce more parts and compete in the global aviation industry.
“We have the goal of continuing to increase the contribution of the 20 billion dollar agreement we will sign to our country’s economy,” he said.
He said the company is growing rapidly despite supply and production problems in the global aviation industry. Last year, it added 46 aircraft to its fleet. It also aims to have a fleet exceeding 800 aircraft by 2033.
