AKYA Torpedo, the “Steel Sword of the Blue Homeland”, starts mass production!

The Turkish Naval Forces Command is starting mass production of the AKYA heavy class warfare torpedo. Let's have a look at the details!

Developed by ROKETSAN with domestic and national capabilities, the AKYA Heavy Class Warfare Torpedo will be an important milestone for the Turkish Naval Forces. The serial production of these torpedoes, which were produced in line with the needs of the Turkish Naval Forces Command and were shot tested last year, has finally started.

The successful performance of the AKYA torpedo in the Eastern Mediterranean warfare firing carried out by the TCG PREVEZE Submarine last year proved the effectiveness of our indigenous technology in the field.

The AKYA Heavy Class Warfare Torpedo has the capability to sink a target ship with a direct hit from a distance of 12,000 yards. This will have a major impact on Turkey’s maritime security and increase its national defense capacity. The mass production of AKYA, which is a completely domestic production, is seen as a factor that will increase Turkey’s independence and security in the defense industry.

The effectiveness of the AKYA torpedo in the field will be an important element of Turkey’s Blue Homeland strategy. These torpedoes, which strengthen Turkey’s presence at sea with their technological capabilities, also contribute positively to the regional balance.
