Physical copies of Assassin’s Creed Shadows have leaked online. Some retail sources, unaware that the game’s release date had been delayed, led to the leak. Ubisoft has taken action to ban accounts sharing unauthorised content and take down screenshots.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows leak stirs the internet
Assassin’s Creed Shadows focuses on the role of Yasuke, a black character. The game, which is described as historically inaccurate, has actually been under criticism for a while. Criticisms address recently leaked gameplay videos and screenshots.

The Assassin’s Creed series has struggled to balance its distinctive open-world formula. Under pressure to revitalise the series, Shadows has been battling misinformation with the latest leak. Ubisoft, on the other hand, has been in a precarious position financially in recent months.
The official launch of the game will be held in December. In this context, Ubisoft is struggling to refocus attention on Shadows. The studio has yet to comment on the impact of the leak and continues to market its revamped stealth-combat mechanics.
Ubisoft’s creative director, Jonathan Dumont, said that the development team has done in-depth research on Japanese history and culture, and that the game has been designed in a way that respects these values. He also stated that they aim to tell Japanese history from different perspectives through the characters Yasuke and Naoe.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases on 15 December 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
