Amazon made a surprise move by offering a purchase offer for TikTok, which is under threat of being banned in the US. According to The New York Times, the e-commerce giant shared this offer with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Vice President JD Vance.
Will Amazon buy TikTok?
Although it was stated that White House officials did not look favorably on this offer, Amazon’s involvement in the process increased uncertainties about TikTok’s future. The US administration set April 5 as the deadline for a decision to either sell or ban TikTok.

US President Donald Trump had previously stated that he could extend this period if necessary. However, the government’s stance has not yet been clarified. While Amazon’s late involvement in this process has raised various questions, it is still unclear how the White House will respond to the offer.
It is not exactly known what reasons Amazon has for wanting to buy TikTok. However, while the company has made significant investments in cloud computing, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence, it does not have a strong presence in the social media market.
The acquisition of TikTok could allow Amazon to significantly increase its advertising revenues and directly compete with Meta and Google. This last-minute move will change the course of the entire process.
We expect clearer developments regarding the fate of TikTok in the coming days. So what do you think about this issue? You can easily share your views with us in the comments section below.
