It looks like our habits for watching NBA games will undergo a significant shift starting in 2025. Amazon Prime Video, alongside ESPN and NBC Sports, has become one of the NBA’s new broadcasting partners. The NBA has decided to end its partnership with TNT in 2025 and continue with three new partners.
Amazon Prime Video to Broadcast 66 Games Annually
After negotiations, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the C Package, valued at approximately $1.8 billion annually. This means that even if you can’t watch all NBA games, you’ll be able to watch 66 selected live games as part of the deal between the platform and the NBA.
Content Included with the C Package:
- 66 regular-season games
- Various playoff games
- A special Black Friday NBA game
- All games from the Emirates NBA Cup’s Qualifying Round
- Semi-Final and Final games of the in-season tournament
- All games from the SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament
Mike Hopkins, President of Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, commented on the deal:
“We are honored to be entrusted with bringing the unique action and excitement of the NBA to viewers around the world. We look forward to creating an incredible video experience for millions of NBA fans starting in 2025 and continuing to deliver live sports content in innovative and advanced ways for our customers.”
It remains to be seen whether a different subscription model will be introduced for Amazon Prime Video or if all Prime Video subscribers will automatically gain access to NBA content in the new era.
