As it is known, Netflix recently introduced new rules and regulations to prevent password sharing. As part of this, sharing your Netflix password with anyone outside of your family or household has been prohibited. Amazon Prime Video, however, mocked this regulation through a tweet on Twitter. Here are the details regarding the subject…
Amazon Prime Video: We’re just laughing…
Netflix introduced a new regulation to address the issue of password sharing. According to this, using a shared Netflix account with someone other than your roommate or family members is no longer possible. In our country, with the increase in the prices of digital content platforms, many users preferred to share their passwords and use shared accounts. This way, costs were cut in half.
However, with the new regulation, Netflix started charging an additional fee for every new account you open. Consequently, if two people use a single account, Netflix began collecting the extra account fee it should receive. Amazon Prime Video UK made fun of this situation. They shared the “Who’s Watching” menu within the Prime Video platform on their Twitter account.
As it stands now, sharing passwords and accounts on Amazon Prime Video is not a problem. Additionally, the service offers profile support, allowing you to keep your viewing history separate from other users. Furthermore, it allows for up to three simultaneous streams. In short, as long as the Amazon Prime account fee is paid, they don’t really care about how many people use the account.
A Twitter user responded to the tweet by saying, “Amazon Prime Video gave a very strong applause to the Netflix platform.” The social media managers of Prime Video UK quickly responded to the user. Using a giggling reference, Prime Video said, “We expect you to do the same.”
However, even though Amazon is currently mocking Netflix, if Netflix manages to generate significant profits with this regulation, Amazon may consider implementing a similar system. This whole matter is based on trends. Therefore, after the results of Netflix’s new approach become apparent, other platforms will seriously start considering this issue.
