AMD is likely to include Samsung in its roadmap for the entry and budget market. It has been claimed that some upcoming AMD Ryzen APU and Radeon GPU models will use Samsung’s 4nm process.
AMD will use Samsung 4nm in some Ryzen APUs and Radeon GPUs
According to leaks from reliable sources, AMD is looking to switch to Samsung’s 4nm process for its upcoming budget-friendly Ryzen APUs and Radeon GPUs. The 4nm process is expected to be used to produce Ryzen APUs for relatively low-end systems.
We know that AMD will refresh its Strix Point lineup in the coming years. In addition, the Kracken Point and Fire Range models also have a critical roadmap. These models, which will consist of new APUs, are aimed to compete with entry-level Intel Core Ultra chips.
The latest rumors revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have a titanium structure.
AMD is also rumored to be working on separate Radeon GPUs with Samsung 4nm architecture. While the high-performance RDNA 4 will still use TSMC 4nm, some RDNA 3+ designs may be manufactured by Samsung.
AMD is expected to include RDNA 3+ architecture in its Strix Point APU models. With the transition of RDNA 3+ to Samsung technology, a new chapter in entry-level Ryzen APUs could be opened.
AMD wants to expand its architecture after TSMC’s limited production due to artificial intelligence. In this context, Samsung will switch to 4nm in order not to reduce its stocks in the low-end market. This will secure its position in the affordable market, regardless of TSMC’s constraints.
