AMD recently unveiled its new Zen 4 architecture and the Ryzen 7000 series. The hardware giant has finally unveiled its 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper series processors. The new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series is aimed at business PC and video producers.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series specs
Built on the Zen 4 architecture, the Threadripper 7000 family consists of 64-core Threadripper models targeting professional users and the 96-core Threadripper WX PRO series focused on premium workstations. So what do these processors promise?
The Ryzen Threadripper 7980X, the top model of the HEDT Threadripper series, features 64 cores. Powered by a 350W TDP, the processor is capable of supporting 4 DDR5 memory with the new sTRX5 socket. The lineup will also include the 32-core Threadripper 7970X and 24-core Threadripper 7960X.
All three models will have boost speeds of up to 5.1 GHz. However, it’s worth noting that the Threadripper 7980X will feature a cache from 152MB to 320MB.
The star of the lineup, however, is the Threadripper Pro 7995WX processor with 96 cores/192 threads on a single chip. This model is the pinnacle of multi-core computing performance. The rest of the Pro lineup includes the 64-core 7975WX, 32-core 7965WX and 64-core 7985WX.
With support for up to 8 DDR5 memory and a TDP of over 350W, these processors are aimed at professional tasks such as rendering and simulation.
