AMD is preparing to launch new budget desktop processors without a GPU. Called Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F, they will offer a similar experience to the company’s current ‘G’ series. The main difference is the absence of an integrated GPU.
AMD Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F revealed
Both processors will use the Zen 4 architecture based on the 4nm process. However, since it does not have an integrated GPU, it will be presented with the ‘F’ suffix. Ryzen 7 8700F will have a similar configuration to 8700G. Accordingly, it is possible to have 8 cores/16 threads.
Ryzen 7 8700F is also rumored to run at 5GHz clock speed. It will be powered by the Ryzen AI NPU for artificial intelligence performance.
Ryzen 5 8400F is based on AMD’s Phoenix design with 2 performance and 4 efficient core designs. The clock speed performance of the cores will reach 4.7 GHz. It is worth noting that the integrated GPU and AI NPU will not be present in this processor.
AMD claims that Ryzen 7 8700F will be more powerful than Intel Core i5-14400F. In-house tests showed up to 25 percent higher frame rates. The Ryzen 5 8400F is said to be up to 15 percent faster than the Intel Core i5-13400F.
Both AMD processors will come with the Wraith Stealth cooler. In terms of pricing, it is expected to be cheaper than the models in the G series. Let us remind you that Ryzen 7 8700G is sold for 330 dollars.
