Google is preparing an important update to make the Android Auto platform more user-friendly. While the latest 13.7 update might seem to contain minor improvements at first glance, detailed analysis shows that significant new features are on the way. According to code analysis, there will be new apps that can be used when the vehicle is stationary. So what kind of apps are we talking about? Details in our report…
Android Auto will receive major updates in 2025
More apps can be used in-vehicle during breaks. As part of Google’s Car Ready Mobile Apps program, it appears that Android Auto will support more applications in the future. Apps that can be used especially when the vehicle is stationary will be an important innovation in terms of entertainment and productivity. Notable new features include:
- Gaming and multimedia apps: Ability to watch videos and play games when the vehicle is stopped.
- Productivity tools: Features like scheduling meetings, checking emails, or taking notes during trips.
- Enhanced interface: A more modern and intuitive experience with updates in the Material You design language.
These innovations will initially be released for Android Automotive OS (the Android version directly integrated into vehicles), while Android Auto users will need to wait a bit longer. The current update includes bug fixes and performance improvements.
However, the real major innovations will come with future major updates. Google continues to roll out Android Auto 13.7 gradually. We expect it to reach all users in the coming weeks.
