Last month, digital photography brand Blackmagic Design launched its Blackmagic Camera app on Android, but it was limited to a few Galaxy and Pixel phones. Now the company has announced that it is expanding the availability of its software to older devices.
Blackmagic Camera gives access to pro-level camera tools on Android devices
The announcement went almost unnoticed as it was made on social media instead of their official blog. According to their post, Blackmagic Camera version 1.1 is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22, the entire Pixel 6 series, OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12.
For non-American users, the app is also available for the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14. Blackmagic Camera offers advanced configuration options to help you set up the right shots, tools to help you control exposure, and support for various video resolutions, among other things.
To get the app, your device must be running Android 13 or later.
Version 1.1 of the app brings a number of new features and tweaks to the software. These include an overall performance boost, optional image noise reduction, the ability to dim the screen while recording, and support for 3D LUTs (Look Up Tables). (These are a collection of color presets that can be added to photos or videos to achieve a specific look.)
Accessing your Android phone on Windows 11 is now much easier!
For example, LUTs can help correct colors in an image, enhance shadows, or add a sepia filter.
Of course, as great as smartphone photography is today, nothing beats a professional camera. What do you think? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
