A new bug has emerged in Apple’s iOS 18.4 update, which was released last week. The new version, which mysteriously brought back previously deleted applications, now appears to be causing serious problems with CarPlay.
iOS 18.4 Update Breaks CarPlay
Apple’s iOS 18.4 update has caused serious problems for CarPlay users. Many users who installed the update have shared various issues, especially connection problems, on social media platforms like Reddit and X.

Among the problems reported by users are the complete disappearance of the music panel and sudden disconnection of the system from the vehicle’s infotainment system. In fact, a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid owner shared that while music played through CarPlay was visible on the dashboard before iOS 18.4, the screen remained completely blank after the update.
The problem is not limited to just one vehicle brand. Similar problems are being experienced in vehicles from many brands including Honda, Nissan, Audi, Ford, Volkswagen, and Toyota. According to some users, Volkswagen has acknowledged the problem and stated that the solution should be provided by Apple.
Some users are trying to find a temporary solution by reconnecting their iPhones to their vehicles. However, we should note that there has been no statement from Apple yet. Finally, let’s point out that the problems caused by the update are not limited to these. As we reported recently, many users reported that applications they deleted months or even years ago reappeared on their phones after the new patch.
