Another move from Sony: Xperia 1 VII sales halted globally

Sony has suspended the global sales of its flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VII, following reports of serious malfunctions. Users have experienced unexpected shutdowns, boot loops, and devices that fail to power on altogether. These issues, initially seen in Japan, have now surfaced in markets such as Europe, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

The problems were first reported in Japanese models with serial numbers SO-51F, SOG15, A501SO, and XQ-FS44. In response to growing user complaints, Sony has extended its sales suspension beyond Japan to the global market.

In a support announcement published on July 8, Sony acknowledged the issue and stated that investigations are ongoing. The company believes the problem may be limited to specific production batches, but the root cause remains unclear. As part of the suspension, Sony has removed the Xperia 1 VII from its official online stores in countries like the UK, Germany, and Spain.

Sony is advising affected users to contact customer support. As a temporary fix, holding the power and volume up buttons together for 20 seconds is recommended. Users are also encouraged to back up their data and ensure their device is updated to the latest software version. There is currently no official timeline for when sales will resume.
