App Store made a record contribution to the global economy
The App Store ecosystem has made a significant contribution to the global economy. The platform created a value of 1.3 trillion dollars.
Apple has released a new report highlighting the impact of its App Store on the global economy. The report revealed that the App Store ecosystem generated a total economic activity of 1.3 trillion dollars worldwide throughout 2024. This figure represents more than double the 519 billion dollars reported in 2019.

The study was prepared by the independent economic consultancy firm Analysis Group. The report is based on all transactions made through the App Store and their economic impacts. Approximately 81% of the total contribution, or 1.05 trillion dollars, was generated from the sales of physical goods and services.

This category includes transactions such as retail trade, travel and accommodation bookings, and online food orders. The remaining 19% consists of digital products, services, and in-app advertising revenues.
Apple states that it does not take a commission on about 90% of the transactions mentioned in the report. Regionally, the largest share of App Store-driven economic activity took place in China, generating a total revenue of 539 billion dollars.
The United States ranked second with 406 billion dollars, while the European market came third with a contribution of 148 billion dollars. Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the App Store creates a vibrant and innovative marketplace for developers.
