Apple has been in talks with many companies to integrate artificial intelligence into its new operating system iOS 18 for a long time. Talks have been held with Google, OpenAI and Chinese company Baidu. According to a new report, it has reached an agreement with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT’s features into iOS 18.
ChatGPT may come to iOS 18
Apple has finalized a deal with OpenAI to add ChatGPT’s features to iOS 18 as it continues to negotiate with Google. According to the report, although both companies have agreed, there is no official announcement yet. When an official announcement will be made remains a mystery.
The report says the OpenAI deal will allow Apple to offer a popular chatbot as part of the new AI features it plans to announce next month. So Apple could add a new text-based AI based on ChatGPT to iOS 18.
In addition, according to another report published recently, the artificial intelligence features that iOS 18 will receive will be partially powered by Apple Silicon processors. The artificial intelligence coming to iOS 18 will be redesigned to comply with Apple’s privacy and security protocols. This means that 3rd party companies like OpenAI will not be able to collect data.
The two sides have finalized terms for an agreement to use ChatGPT features in iOS 18, Apple’s next iPhone operating system, the people said, asking not to be identified because the situation is private. Apple has also been in talks with Alphabet Inc.’s Google about licensing that company’s Gemini chatbot. These discussions have not led to an agreement, but are ongoing.
