Apple is getting ready to deliver the calculator app iPad users have been waiting for. After more than a decade without an official calculator, the first official app will be available with iPadOS 18.
Calculator for iPad on the way
The iPad, which was first released in 2010, has gained many Apple services during this time. However, it was noteworthy that Apple did not offer an official calculator for 14 years. With iOS 18, the tech giant started working on an optimized calculator for iPad.
iPadOS 18 is expected to be introduced at the WWDC conference on June 10. The first beta version will probably be released on this date. The final version is expected in September. It will also be possible to use the app in the meantime.
For many years, iPads have been an alternative to computers. But the lack of a basic calculator app built into the operating system was a glaring omission. Users have been making do with the calculator apps available in the App Store, but the lack of an official app has caused a backlash.
The new calculator app is expected to be optimized for the iPad’s large screen. This requires the touch buttons to be designed specifically for the iPad. We expect the window to be resizable and integration with the Notes app will also be offered.
Apple is also expected to overhaul the calculator with macOS 15. It will give the Calculator for Mac app a number of new features. These include an improved unit conversion system in the interface.
