Apple, which is lagging behind in the artificial intelligence race, has accelerated its work within the company. Accordingly, it was claimed that investments were made in artificial intelligence servers for the coming years. In the first phase, it was stated that Apple set up a 5 billion dollar server.
Apple will buy 5.75 billion dollars of AI servers in two years
According to new estimates, Apple will dramatically increase its investments in artificial intelligence over the next two years. The tech giant’s total spending on AI servers is projected to exceed $5 billion.
In a note to investors, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the company plans to purchase between 2 and 3 thousand AI servers before the end of 2023. He explained that this number will increase to 18 to 20 thousand in 2024.
Kuo thinks that a high-end AI server from Nvidia will cost an average of 250 thousand dollars. Accordingly, the company’s spending will reach about 620 million dollars in 2023. However, the real big expenditure is projected for 2024. Apple’s server purchases are expected to reach $4.75 billion in just one year.
This suggests that Apple wants to rapidly expand its capabilities in productive AI and other technologies like ChatGPT. The projected two-year spending on AI infrastructure could reach $5.37 billion.
Kuo underlined that Apple’s server orders are still low compared to other giants such as Meta and Microsoft. For example, Meta will purchase about 40 thousand AI servers in 2024, while Microsoft will reach 100 thousand.
