Brazil’s antitrust regulator, Cade, is launching an investigation into Apple, accusing the tech giant of hindering competition on the App Store. The case examines Apple’s policies that force developers to use its payment system and impose certain conditions. This practice, particularly in Brazil, has been a subject of controversy for some time.
Brazil Launches Antitrust Investigation into Apple’s App Store
According to Cade, Apple’s App Store system has negatively impacted Brazil’s digital market, leading to higher costs for users. As a result, the company was recently accused of violating Brazilian laws, although Apple has appealed the decision. A court has given Apple more time, awaiting the final outcome of the case.

The investigation also involves complaints from popular platforms such as Match (owner of Tinder) and Epic Games (developer of Fortnite). Additionally, Android is also mentioned in relation to the case.
While Google is facing similar scrutiny for comparable reasons, the upcoming hearings are expected to yield crucial decisions about the impact of these tech giants on Brazil’s digital ecosystem.
