Apple is taking a new step to improve the messaging experience on iPhones. The company announced that the highly anticipated iOS 19 will have RCS Universal Profile 3.0 support. With this update, messaging between iPhone and Android users will be much more secure than before.
Apple will increase messaging security with iOS 19
With RCS 3.0, messages sent by iPhone users to Android device owners will be protected with end-to-end encryption. Apple will integrate the security measures it previously offered for iMessage into RCS-based messaging.

The new system brings many innovations not only in terms of security but also in terms of functionality. Among the features to be offered for RCS messaging with iOS 19 are inline replies, editing messages, undoing sent messages, and Tapback support.
Apple has been offering end-to-end encryption support via iMessage for a long time. The company introduced this security measure with iOS 5, and added the inline reply feature in iOS 14. The ability to edit and undo messages was introduced with iOS 16. Now these features will be carried over to RCS messaging.
There is no clear information yet about when iOS 19 will be available. It has not been announced which iOS version Apple will integrate RCS Universal Profile 3.0 support into.
