Apple is working on two different smart glasses models to expand its product range in the wearable technology field. According to the latest information, the company aims to be a direct competitor to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses with these devices.
Apple is designing two different smart glasses
The models being developed include both augmented reality (AR)-supported and a more basic version without AR features. It was also stated that the company is working on a chip it has specially designed for these new devices.

It was reported that mass production of this special chip could start at the end of 2026 or early 2027. This indicates that Apple could launch its smart glasses in 2027. However, it is known that the company is not only focusing on AR-enabled models, but is also working on simpler glasses that do not include augmented reality.
This model is intended to appeal to a wider user base. Apple’s new strategy was evaluated as an attempt to expand its product range to different segments. Similarly, while Meta introduced its first generation Orion AR glasses to the market only for developer purposes; plans to introduce more advanced second-generation models to users in 2027.
According to Bloomberg, Apple’s processor development efforts are not limited to smart glasses. The company is also working on special chips for Apple Watch models with cameras and AirPods.
